Prof. Arpan K. Kar is Amar S Gupta Chair Professor in Information Systems in the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Within IIT Delhi, he shares a Joint Faculty Appointment in the Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence. Also he has an associate faculty appointment in the Bharti School of Telecom and Centre for Excellence in Cyber Systems and Information Assurance. His research interests are in the interface of data science, digital transformation, internet ecosystems, social media and ICT-based public policy. He has authored over 180 peer reviewed articles and edited 7 research monographs. As of December 2021, his research has been cited over 5000 times. He has an H Index over 38 and I-10 index over 88. He is the Chair of Corporate Relations and member of the Board of Academic Programme and Institute of Eminence committees within IIT Delhi, and also serves on the board / expert committees of other organizations as well.

Prof. Arpan Kar is the founding Editor in Chief of International Journal of Information Management Data Insights, published by Elsevier, the companion journal of International Journal of Information Management. He actively supports reputed journals like Journal of Public Affairs, International Journal of Electronic Government Research, Information Systems Frontiers, The Bottom Line, Advances in Theory and Practice of Emerging Markets, Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management as an Associate/Coordinating Editor. Further he supports journals like Journal of Global Information Management, Journal of Business Research and International Journal of Information Management on the editorial board. He has served as Associate Editor,  Track Chair  and Conference Chair in reputed conferences like IFIP Working Group 6.11 and 8.6, ICIS, PACIS, ECIS conferences. He has handled guest editorship in journals like Information Systems Frontiers, Journal of Advances in Management Research, Australasian Journal of Information Systems, Industrial Marketing Management and International Journal of Information Management.

He has published his research in reputed journals like Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Information Systems Frontiers, International Journal of Information Management, Information Technology and People, Government Information Quarterly, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Annals of Operations Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Enterprise Information Management, Enterprise Information Systems, Decision Analysis, Journal of Global Information Management, etc.

Prof. Kar has received reviewing excellence awards from multiple reputed journals like Information and Management, Government Information Quarterly, International Journal of Information Management, Land Use Policy, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Computational Science, Expert Systems with Applications, etc. Prior to joining IIT Delhi, he has worked for IIM Rohtak, IBM Research and Cognizant. He has also handled a lot of research, advocacy and training projects from national and international firms and governments.

He has received numerous recognitions for his research contributions from reputed organizations like 3 International Federation of Information Processing Best Paper Awards, Tata Consultancy Services Research Award, Project Management Institute Young Research Scholar Award, Association of Indian Management Schools Faculty Research Award, IIT Delhi Teaching Excellence Award, Basant Kumar Birla Distinguished Researcher Award (BimTech), Association of Computing Machinery ICEGOV Best Research Paper Award, NIT Goa Research Paper Award, and Clarivate Analytics Research Excellence Award (Web of Science).

Education wise, he completed his Graduation (B.Engg.) from Jadavpur University (Gold medalist) and Masters/Doctorate (Fellow) from XLRI Jamshedpur.
