Prof. Arpan K. Kar is an Associate Professor in Information Systems in the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Within IIT Delhi, he shares a Joint Faculty Appointment in the School of Artificial Intelligence. Also he has an associate faculty appointment in the Bharti School of Telecom and Centre for Excellence in Cyber Systems and Information Assurance. His research interests are in the interface of data science, digital transformation, internet ecosystems, social media and ICT-based public policy. He has authored over 150 peer reviewed articles and edited 7 research monographs. As of September 2021, his research has been cited over 4000 times. He has an H Index over 35 and I-10 index over 80. He is the Chair of Corporate Relations and member of the Board of Academic Programme and Institute of Eminence committees.
Prof. Arpan Kar is the founding Editor in Chief of International Journal of Information Management Data Insights, published by Elsevier, the companion journal of International Journal of Information Management. He actively supports reputed journals like Journal of Public Affairs, International Journal of Electronic Government Research, Information Systems Frontiers, The Bottom Line, Advances in Theory and Practice of Emerging Markets, Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management as an Associate/Coordinating Editor. Further he supports journals like Journal of Global Information Management, Journal of Business Research and International Journal of Information Management on the editorial board. He has served as Associate Editor, Track Chair and Conference Chair in reputed conferences like IFIP Working Group 6.11 and 8.6, ICIS, PACIS, ECIS conferences. He has handled guest editorship in journals like Information Systems Frontiers, Journal of Advances in Management Research, Australasian Journal of Information Systems, Industrial Marketing Management and International Journal of Information Management.

Prof. Kar has received reviewing excellence awards from multiple reputed journals like Information and Management, Government Information Quarterly, International Journal of Information Management, Land Use Policy, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Computational Science, Expert Systems with Applications, etc. Prior to joining IIT Delhi, he has worked for IIM Rohtak, IBM Research and Cognizant. He has also handled a lot of research, advocacy and training projects from national and international firms and governments. He has received numerous recognitions for his research contributions from reputed organizations like Stanford University, International Federation of Information Processing, Tata Consultancy Services, Project Management Institute, Association of Indian Management Schools, IIT Delhi, BK Birla (BimTech), NIT Goa, IIM Rohtak and Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science). Education wise, he completed his Graduation (B.Engg.) from Jadavpur University (Gold medalist) and Masters/Doctorate (Fellow) from XLRI Jamshedpur.
