Bio in Brief

Prof. Arpan Kar is Professor of Information Systems in Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He holds a Endowed Chair Professorship in Data and Decision Science. Within IIT Delhi, he shares a joint appointment in the Department of Management Studies and Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence. Administratively he is the Chair of Corporate Relations and is a member of Board of Academic Programme and Institute of Eminence Committee, among others. He also supports multiple ministries and other universities also in different advisory boards/roles. He works in the space of data science, digital platforms and apps, social media and ICT-based public policy. He has authored over 175 peer reviewed articles and edited 10 books and has over 9000 citations with an H-Index of 47. Over 65 publications are in ABDC A, ABS 3 or WoS Q1 journals including 13 publications in ABDC A* journals. He is the Editor in Chief of International Journal of Information Management Data Insights, published by Elsevier, which is ranked as a Q1 journal in Scopus. He has been a Guest Editor for ABDC A*/A journals like Decision Support Systems, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Information Management, Information Systems Frontiers, Australasian Journal of Information Systems, etc. He has undertaken over 40 national and international research, consultancy and training projects. He has received over 20 awards like Clarivate Research Excellence Award, Basant Kumar Birla Distinguished Researcher award, 3 IFIP Best Paper Awards, ACM ICEGOV Best Research award, Tata Consultancy Services Research Gold Medal, Project Management Institute Research Award, Association of Indian Management Schools Best Researcher award, IIT Delhi Teaching Excellence award, Best Seller Award from Ivey / Harvard Cases, and many more.
