Background: This conference is under the working group of IFIP. IFIP was initiated in the 1960s with UNESCO recognition and is one of the top 3 academic conferences in Information Systems. The theme of this year’s conference is Digital Nations – Smart Cities, Innovation & Sustainability. The proceedings are published in the prestigious LNCS-IFIP series by Springer.

Background: The idea of starting an EU-INDIA Cluster to Cluster (C2C) partnership around ‘Smart Village’ came out of the recent attention given to ‘Smart Cities’ world. Also with GoI announcing the development of 100 smart cities which essentially are aimed at deployment of internet based applications, content management platforms and broadband infrastructures in every sphere of public systems (such as healthcare, media, energy and the environment, safety, and public services). Hence ‘Smart Village’ has to be a parallel agenda as it would augment the objectives of ‘Smart Cities’.
